Walnut Cinnamon Swirl

Description

This homemade bread is a not too sweet and has a delicious cinnamon, walnut and raisin filling. This bread looks good and tastes even better.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk, room temperature
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 2 teaspoons bread machine yeast
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • ⅔ cup brown sugar
  • ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Place milk
  2. one egg
  3. two tablespoons butter
  4. salt
  5. 3 tablespoons sugar
  6. flour and yeast in bread machine pan. Select Dough cycle
  7. and press start.
  8. When cycle is complete
  9. remove dough from machine
  10. punch down
  11. and let rest for 5 minutes. Roll out on lightly floured board into an approximately 24×10 inch rectangle.
  12. Brush the dough with 3 tablespoons melted butter
  13. then sprinkle with brown sugar
  14. cinnamon
  15. 1 cup nuts and raisins. Roll up tightly
  16. jelly roll style from the longer side. Place on a greased baking sheet
  17. shape into a ring
  18. and seal ends. Mist with warm water
  19. cover with plastic wrap which has also been mist with water
  20. and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size
  21. approximately 1 hour.
  22. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a small bowl
  23. beat together 1 egg and 1 tablespoon water; set aside.
  24. Just before baking
  25. brush dough with egg mixture
  26. sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup walnuts. Bake in preheated for 20 to 25 minutes. This is a dense ring and if it browns too quickly
  27. just cover with foil and continue to bake.
