Raisin Nut Bread

Description

This easy to make bread is packed with raisins and walnuts. It’s a great in the morning, with tea or for dessert.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ⅔ cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1.3 cups chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup raisins

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Stir together flour
  3. sugar
  4. baking powder
  5. baking soda
  6. and cinnamon in a large bowl. Beat together egg
  7. applesauce
  8. and butter in a separate bowl. Stir applesauce mixture into flour mixture just until combined. Fold in walnuts and raisins; pour batter into prepared loaf pan.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean
  10. about 45 minutes. Allow to cool before slicing.
