Pumpkin Biscuits

Description

A staple in our holiday bread basket. Originally submitted to ThanksgivingRecipe.com.

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ cup butter, sliced
  • 2 cups pumpkin puree

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (205 degrees C). Butter one large cookie sheet.
  2. Stir together flour
  3. brown sugar
  4. baking powder
  5. salt
  6. nutmeg
  7. cinnamon
  8. and ginger in a large bowl. Cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in pumpkin and mix to form a soft dough.
  9. Pat dough out to 1/2-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface. Cut out biscuits with a 2-inch round cutter. Place biscuits on the prepared cookie sheet.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven until centers bounce back when gently pressed
  11. 15 to 20 minutes. Serve warm from the oven.
