Boston Brown Bread III

Description

Absolutely fabulous, tastes just like the brown bread I had on my trip to Boston!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ⅔ cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • ¼ cup molasses
  • 2 cups buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan
  2. knocking out excess flour.
  3. In a large bowl
  4. whisk together whole wheat flour
  5. all-purpose flour
  6. baking soda
  7. and brown sugar. Mix in molasses and buttermilk until just combined. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  8. Bake for one hour
  9. or until done. Cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes
  10. and then remove from pan. Cool completely before slicing.

Total Time: 1 hr
