Old Fashioned Brown Gravy

Description

Old-fashioned brown gravy. Made from meat drippings.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons pan drippings
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup water
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Immediately after removing roasted meat from its pan
  2. drain off drippings
  3. reserving 2 tablespoons in the pan.
  4. Sprinkle flour over drippings; cook and stir over medium heat until brown. Gradually stir in milk
  5. whisking with a fork to scrape up all of the meaty bits from the pan
  6. then gradually whisk in water.
  7. Increase heat to medium-high; cook
  8. stirring constantly
  9. until gravy thickens
  10. about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

Cook Time: 15 mins

Total Time: 20 mins
