Description

My dad was in the Marine Corps and remembers eating this dish often. It’s a simple recipe consisting of ground beef mixed with milk, margarine and beef broth. It’s also good using ground sausage. Serve this dish over toast.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 ½ tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • ½ cup evaporated milk
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a medium skillet over medium-high heat
  2. until meat is no longer pink. Drain excess fat and set aside.
  3. Melt the butter or margarine in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Slowly add the flour
  4. stirring constantly
  5. to form a brown roux.
  6. Pour in beef broth and milk
  7. mixing well. Add ground beef
  8. then season with salt and pepper to taste.

Cook Time: 20 mins

Total Time: 30 mins
