Crunchy Cheese Sandwiches

Description

This is one of my husband’s favorite childhood recipes. Quick and healthy after school snack for kids.

Ingredients

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • ¼ teaspoon chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 4 slices white bread

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven’s broiler.
  2. In a medium bowl
  3. stir together the onion
  4. tomato
  5. celery
  6. bell pepper
  7. cheese
  8. chili powder and salt. Arrange slices of bread on a baking sheet or broiling pan. Top each one with 1/4 of the mixture
  9. spreading out to the edges.
  10. Broil for 4 to 5 minutes
  11. or until cheese melts. Watch closely to prevent burning. Serve immediately.

Cook Time: 5 mins

Total Time: 15 mins
