Fresh Strawberry Sauce

Description

This is an excellent sauce for pies and cakes – especially cheesecakes!

Ingredients

  • 1 pint fresh strawberries, hulled
  • ¼ cup white sugar, or more to taste
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • ½ teaspoon balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Combine strawberries
  2. sugar
  3. 2 tablespoons water
  4. and balsamic vinegar in a saucepan; bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  5. Reduce heat to medium-low
  6. cover
  7. and simmer for 15 minutes.
  8. Whisk 2 tablespoons water and cornstarch together in a small bowl.
  9. Whisk cornstarch mixture into strawberry mixture. Cook
  10. stirring constantly
  11. until mixture thickens
  12. 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
  13. Transfer mixture to a blender and puree until smooth.

Cook Time: 25 mins

Total Time: 30 mins
