Swabian Meatballs (Fleischkuechle)

Description

Only in the German state of Swabia is this dish called ‘Fleischkuechle.’ In Bavaria, they are called ‘Fleischpflanzerl.’ In Berlin, they say ‘Buletten,’ while throughout all of Germany they are known as ‘Frikadellen.’

Ingredients

  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 hard rolls, day-old
  • ½ pound ground beef
  • ½ pound ground pork
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 onion, minced
  • 4 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
