This is my favorite Italian beef recipe, handed down to me from an old neighbor in Illinois. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family does. Serve with French rolls and pepperoncinis.
Ingredients
- 1 (6 pound) rump roast
- 3 cups water
- 2 tablespoons dried basil
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon parsley flakes
- 3 bay leaves
- 1 ½ teaspoons red pepper flakes
- ⅓ teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
