Description
This was my grandfather’s favorite, and has become a family tradition. Enjoy.
Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon almond extract
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- ⅓ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
- Cream shortening
- butter
- and confectioners’ sugar in a medium bowl until smooth. Stir in vanilla and almond extracts. Combine flour and salt in a separate bowl; stir into creamed mixture.
- Roll dough into walnut-sized balls and place 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake in the preheated oven until bottoms begin to brown
- 20 to 25 minutes.
