Roasted Duck

Description

I made this last year out of the blue, and my whole family enjoyed it. We had never had duck before, and it was a nice exchange for the traditional turkey. We served it with all the usual side dishes.

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (5 pound) whole duck
  • ½ cup melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Combine paprika
  3. salt
  4. and pepper in a small bowl; rub spice mixture onto skin of duck. Place duck in a roasting pan.
  5. Roast in the preheated oven for 1 hour.
  6. Spoon 1/4 cup melted butter over duck and continue cooking for 45 minutes more.
  7. Spoon remaining 1/4 cup melted butter over duck and cook until golden brown
  8. about 15 minutes more.

Prep Time: 10 mins

Cook Time: 2 hrs

Total Time: 2 hrs 10 mins
