Scottley’s Basic Yellow Cake

Description

Very simple, but delicious cake. Can be used with most any kind of frosting.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 ⅔ cups white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups sifted cake flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ⅓ cups milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour 2 – 9 inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl
  3. cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time
  4. then stir in vanilla.
  5. Sift flour
  6. baking powder
  7. and salt together in a separate bowl. Add flour mixture to butter mixture alternately with milk
  8. mixing just until incorporated. Pour batter into prepared pans.
  9. Bake in preheated oven for 40to 45 minutes
  10. or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes
  11. then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.

Cook Time: 45 mins

Total Time: 1 hr
