German Chocolate Cake

Description

Make a great German Chocolate Cake with this easy recipe. The coconut and pecan frosting is deliciously dreamy.

Ingredients

  • 1 (18.25 ounce) package Pillsbury® German Chocolate Cake
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 eggs plus
  • 1 egg yolk
  • ½ cup Crisco® Pure Vegetable Oil
  • 1 (14 ounce) can EAGLE BRAND® Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • ⅓ cup chopped pecans
  • ⅓ cup flaked coconut
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 13×9-inch baking pan.
  2. Beat cake mix
  3. water
  4. eggs
  5. oil
  6. and 1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk in a large bowl with an electric mixer on low speed until moistened. Beat on high speed for 2 minutes. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center of cake comes out clean
  8. 40 to 45 minutes.
  9. Meanwhile
  10. combine remaining sweetened condensed milk
  11. butter
  12. and egg yolk in a medium saucepan over medium heat; cook and stir until thickened
  13. about 6 minutes. Add pecans
  14. coconut
  15. and vanilla; mix well. Allow frosting to cool slightly.
  16. Spread frosting over warm cake. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator.
