Grilled Gingered Salmon

Description

This is one of my most requested recipes, and there’s never a crumb left when I make it.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1 cup muscovado (dark brown) sugar
  • 1 (5 inch) piece of fresh ginger root, peeled and minced
  • ΒΌ cup olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 1 (3 pound) whole salmon fillet with skin
  • 1 untreated cedar plank

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the soy sauce
  2. muscovado sugar
  3. minced ginger
  4. olive oil
  5. and garlic in a bowl
  6. and pour into a resealable plastic zipper bag. Add the salmon fillet
  7. coat with the marinade
  8. squeeze out excess air
  9. and seal the bag. Marinate in the refrigerator overnight or up to 2 days.
  10. About 1/2 hour before grilling
  11. soak cedar plank in water.
  12. Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat
  13. and lightly oil the grate.
  14. Remove the salmon from the marinade
  15. and shake off excess. Discard the remaining marinade. Place the salmon
  16. skin side down
  17. onto the cedar plank.
  18. Grill with the grill cover closed until the salmon is opaque but still juicy
  19. about 20 minutes. Carefully remove the salmon from the plank in one piece
  20. leaving the skin on the plank.

Cook Time: 20 mins

Total Time: 12 hrs 30 mins
