Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Description

This is a simple way of making traditional Hawaiian kalua pig without having to dig a hole in your back yard.

Ingredients

  • 1 (6 pound) pork butt roast
  • 1 ½ tablespoons Hawaiian sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon liquid smoke flavoring

Instructions

  1. Pierce pork all over with a carving fork; rub in salt then liquid smoke. Transfer pork into a slow cooker.
  2. Cover
  3. and cook on Low for 16 to 20 hours
  4. turning once during cooking time.
  5. Remove pork from slow cooker; shred with two forks
  6. adding drippings as needed to moisten.

Prep Time: 10 mins

Cook Time: 20 hrs

Total Time: 20 hrs 10 mins

Servings: 12
